Equipment For Sale

We are in the process of rationalizing our bakery equipment and have a range of items available for sale;

Large Wood Fired Bread oven - Masonry built - housed in a 40’ Shipping Container;

This oven was built in 2006 / 2007 and was used extensively until 2009 when we built our current larger one in the building which is now our bakery. It has oven dimensions of approx 10’6” deep x 5’8” wide and is heated by firing on the hearth and then cleaning out prior to baking. It also has a side flue which can be fired quickly to top heat up during baking if required. Normally we would not use this as after a single firing – once main fabric is up to temperature – we would expect to see 9 – 10 hrs of solid bread baking being achieved. A steam tube arrangement is provided allowing steaming of bread when loading. We fuelled it using waste softwood from our neighbouring sawmill and on a 4 day baking week would expect to use 1 – 1.5 tonnes of this sort of timber – this nominally came to us with a moisture content of 30%+ and we never bothered drying down further as the less handling made the sums work for us. The oven is fitted with 6 Thermocouples at various points within the oven for monitoring temperatures throughout the baking area. The container is clad with ship lap timber and insulated between this and the metal so no condensation occurs in side. Plumbing and wiring is included along with a commercial twin bowl double drainer sink unit with under shelf. The container provides an ideal working space for 1 or 2 bakers however additional cooling space for packing etc would be better as an adjacent space. The combined weight is in excess of 35 tonnes most of which is at one end. It can be lifted by 2 cranes and we have already moved it once, a distance of 35 miles, from where we originally built it, thus we have confidence that it moves well. We are open to offers for this unique piece of apparatus; it can be bought as is with buyer responsible for lifting and haulage – craneage would be approx. £1800.00 lift on / lift off basis using national crane network – and marine insurance for reconstruction if damage occurs during actual road transport which, at last count, would be about £250.00. Alternatively we could dismantle and reconstruct at purchasers premises recovering the important materials – i.e., all the fire brick linings, metalwork etc., on basis that purchaser paid labour and provided all aggregate materials required to reconstruct.

Please call us to discuss further or to arrange a visit to come and view the oven in situ.
